Assumption University does not only provide world class education but also is an assortment of sports activities. Obviously there are a large sports field, a recreation centre, a large gymnasium and a standard size swimming pool at
Bangna Campus.

Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran remarked, “It is extremely important to support Assumption University’s sports activities as it helps to improve students’ inner spirits. Our students learn to win or lose and to forgive and work as a team. A budget of Baht 400 millions may seem high for sports activities alone, but it is definitely no more than educational budget.”

Assumption University Sport Complex comprises of 4 soccer fields, 7 tennis courts, 4 outdoor and 1 indoor basketball courts, 2 squash courts, 1 badminton gymnasium, snooker and table-tennis tables, 2 swimming pools, an aerobic room, and a fitness center.

Rev. Bro. Bancha said that sports activities for students are divided into 3 main levels:

1) sports for recreation – for after class activities
2) sports for health and relationship bonding – to learn to play sports properly for physical and mental health improvement; learn to win or lose; build a good relationship
3) sports for excellence – to be number one.

“In our entire support for sports activities, we must never forget that they are students and that studying is their main duty. No matter how much they want to play, it is important for them to realize that studying is the most important thing in their lives.”

Assumption University continues to support sports activities and had sent more than 130 student players to participate in the Ratchaphruek Games, the 34th Thailand University Games. Out of 14 kinds of sports including taekwando, table-tennis, shooting, golfing, and many others, Assumption University students won 4 gold medals, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes.
